Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to create a sensory corner in my speech therapy room to support my autistic students’ emotional regulation and comfort needs.

I want to create a space that includes a modular couch, play mat, and weighted toys and pillows to offer a calming retreat where students can decompress, reset, or engage in sensory input that helps them feel grounded.

By creating this sensory break corner, students will have the autonomy to request a break to reduce anxiety and overstimulation. By honoring sensory needs, I hope to foster a more inclusive, responsive environment that empowers communication and learning.
