Building a Science Brain

My Project

Science is a fun way to teach so many things. The power of exploration can be very meaningful. STEM activities that foster creativity, cooperation, brain health, and trial and error are great ways to boost a child's ability to think and problem-solve. A STEM activity is similar to science experiments for kids, but instead of just involving science, the activity includes other elements that round out the study and foster a love of exploration and discovery that children can take with them beyond school into their future careers and lives. Each of the boxes will be filled with materials, manipulatives, that students can use to build and explore. The Simon games are a great tool to enhance short-term memory. This is an area that is prevalent in my special needs students.

The tools such as Simon games and other STEM materials in this project will create pathways in both sides of the brain that will work together to maximize learning.

Building dendrites in the brain can only enhance academics and perseverance. I have included some stickers, and the popular water bottles, as the students are motivated by them. They keep a notebook and enjoy adding stickers each day.

I have also included peacock feathers. A fun way to get both sides of your brain working together is to balance a feather in the palm of your hand. Students love the hands on way to work on spelling words, multiplication facts, and other important concepts.

I look forward to the growth my students are going to make.
