Building a Reading Life - Third Grade Readers Workshop

My Students

Our students will be participating in a new reading program that is aimed at creating a life long love of reading, by allowing students to choose what they will read throughout the year. We need many materials to help us create the proper reading environment.

My students are highly motivated and they love to read!This year my class will have mostly gifted and talented students so they will need to be challenged in a variety of ways.

Readers workshop is a wonderful way to differentiate and to foster a love of reading.

My Project

The most important item that we will need to conduct our readers workshop is a gathering rug. On this rug we will meet for our daily mini lessons, where they will be introduced to the skill of the day. Then they will be sent off to practice the new skill and then gather on the rug review all that we have learned during the day.

I am very excited to start this new program and I want the classroom to be an inviting place to sit and read.

The donations that we will receive will help us to conduct our daily lessons and will be a central part of our classroom.
