My Students
My students are always exploring new ways to perfect their craft in performing. Whether it is singing an Italian aria or a pop song, nothing can stop my students from performing around the community and school. Every year, I want my students to see and hear their progress in performing.
Students who enroll in my classes have an interest in music and choral music.
The students are very tech savvy and are very open-minded in learning foreign music. Piano lessons, guitar lessons, and voice lessons are very important to students, but it is a challenge to provide all of these activities for the students with the lack of resources. The students enrolled are in need of being able to cultivate their own ability in performing.
Students who are heavily influenced by fine arts are making a difference in the school. They have petitioned to receive dance and theater classes at the school. Students of the choral program have also revealed to the principal that fine arts in the school are not appreciated.
The school is a Title I school in the city's public school system. The school is the oldest African American high school and has a proud and supportive alumni who continue to assist with keeping up the school's integrity and tradition.
My Project
The keyboard packages will assist choral students in having sectional practices and will assist students interested in piano lessons. The microphone set and portable public address system will allow the students to perform at the school in different assemblies where they have been denied in the past due to technical difficulties and lack of a sound system. The sound system will allow the students to show off their hard work and talents. This will encourage the students to continue practicing and learning new music to perform. The choral music resource books will help in obtaining a higher rating during the state's large group performance evaluations. The resource books will also help the students learn new songs at a faster rate. The students will learn the importance of practice and being performance ready so that they may continue performing after graduating from high school.
The chorus program at my school is still in its rebuilding process.
Donations to the choral program and to the arts at the school will definitely be appreciated. Fine arts at the school have been overlooked and underappreciated due to the lack to support and resources. The donations will change the students' lives showing their persistence, hard work, and dedication to fine arts. I hope that these donations will encourage other students to support fine arts.
