Building a Program: Wrestling Mat

Help me give my students wrestling equipment to start a program to build on the legacy of Mainland Athletics.

My Students

My high school is a Title 1 school. That means that the majority of my student population is low income. As the funding continues to be cut, my ability to provide wrestling gear, transportation to events, fees for competitions, etc is diminished and the students are unable to pay to play. Your support directly impacts that. You can help my teams by providing a greatly needed contribution to our High School today.

Here at our school, we are starting a co-ed wrestling team.

Girls wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and we are tapping into that interest. Wrestling is a sport that does not discriminate on the basis of size; it is the harder worker who will win every time. One of our graduated female athletes came back for a practice this year on leave from her military assignment and the kids were thrilled to see her.

My Project

While we are excited about our goals and plan to live up to the legacy Mainland Athletics has in the community, there are many expenses in starting and running a successful team. We rely solely on our own fundraising events and the support of local businesses for funding. Costs for high school athletics are increasing at the same time as school funding is diminishing.

We are trying to provide the essential safety equipment required for competition.

This headgear will make sure that finances do not keep any student-athlete from competing. Your contribution to these essential operating items allows us to focus on the competition.
