My Project
My K-8 band students inspire me daily with their enthusiasm for music. Despite many starting with no musical background, they arrive early to practice and stay late to help others. Their dedication deserves proper equipment to match their spirit.
These resources will transform their learning:
The Manhasset music stands will revolutionize our daily practice. Currently, students balance music on chairs or windowsills, forcing them to look down and develop poor posture. Professional stands will enable proper playing positions, allowing students to maintain eye contact with the conductor and develop crucial ensemble skills.
Our piano students struggle with improper seating which affects their technique. The Roland adjustable bench ensures correct posture for students of all heights. When pianists can maintain proper hand positions, they progress faster and avoid developing harmful habits that could limit their potential.
The Peterson StroboPLUS tuner will develop critical listening skills across our entire program. This professional-grade tool helps students recognize precise pitch, essential for both individual practice and ensemble playing. When students can hear and adjust their pitch accurately, their confidence soars.
Project Goals:
Improve sight-reading proficiency by 40% through proper music positioning
Develop proper technique through correct posture
Enhance ensemble pitch accuracy
Reduce setup time by eliminating makeshift solutions
What makes my students special is their collaborative spirit. Advanced students mentor beginners, sharing tips and encouragement. They celebrate each other's progress and support one another through challenges. Despite using makeshift equipment, they never complain – instead, they problem-solve and persevere.
These resources will serve thousands of future musicians, creating a foundation for success that extends far beyond our band room. When students have professional tools, they take their music education more seriously and develop habits that last a lifetime
