Building a Non Fiction Classroom Library

My students need a collection of non-fiction books, specifically biographies and science books. These are included in a complete Nonfiction Leveled Books Classroom Library and 9 smaller themed book collections.

My Students

Have you ever been curious about something and been able to look it up by yourself? This would be an awesome experience for 2nd graders to do on their own. They would acquire independence and confidence in their own learning.

My students are a diverse group of 2nd graders who love to read.

Our school is a small school within a large urban public school district. My students enjoy learning about science and social studies. They also are creative and enjoy project based learning.

My Project

The collection of non-fiction books requested will provide my students with resources to research subjects that they are interested in within the parameters of the current 2nd grade California Standards. These books will also prepare them for the upcoming Common Core Standards, which requires close reading which enables students to analyze and think critically.

Your donation will make a huge difference to my students that will further their ability to independently take charge of their own learning.

Their classroom interactions with each other will be enriched with knowledge from this collection.
