My Students

These students are first grade students located on Air Force base housing with a 100% military population. These students come from all over, and sometimes this is their second or third school in just the few years they've been in school. I want to provide a fun atmosphere for my students that makes them feel welcome and comfortable.

All students should feel safe and welcome in a classroom.

With the students that our school serves, I want to make sure I do just that.

My Project

Who doesn't love a good story about a boy and his pet dog? Henry is a boy who has a pet mastiff named Mudge. This series by Cynthia Rylant is a great introduction to chapter books for young readers.

When readers start to become more confident in their reading, they want to move past picture books into chapter books.

When reading a chapter book, a student feels like an accomplished reader! They feel as if they are doing something hard and feel a great sense of accomplishment when they are successful. These books are great beginner chapter books that ease the new reader into the structure and world of a chapter book. We'd love some class sets so we can do book studies together!
