This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 15 pre-Kindergarten students in a Title I school. I have special education and regular education students in my room. My students are full of love and energy. They learn best when they can learn while moving and creating. They need the educational material to be presented in a fun and engaging way. I try to present the information using a multi-sensory approach. My goal is for my students to love coming to school every day. I want them to have so much fun that they do not even realize that they are learning.
My Project
We need a variety of LEGO building kits in our block center. LEGO creations can help students improve in a variety of areas. Building with LEGOs means that a student will need to learn how to share and play cooperatively with others. The students will learn to keep working on the LEGO building projects and not to give up so easily. They will look at their LEGO projects with a great sense of pride. The students will be able to follow the LEGO cards or create their own animal or building.
Building with LEGO sets will help the students work on their fine motor development through play.
The students will work on math skills like one to one correspondence. They will learn how to describe the LEGO pieces by size, shape or color. The students will learn to have a passion for creating different designs. The teacher can use the LEGO piece for a variety of STEM activities throughout the year.
