This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the historic East End of Houston where the culture is rich and the roots run deep. We have students from many different backgrounds who hail from all over the surrounding areas to attend our STEM program with a biotech/neuroscience focus. The future of medicine is quite literally in our classrooms.

Our students are creative, active, and excited to learn new things.

As a campus, we strive to create a school where students with many different interests can flourish and excel.

My Project

For the past two years, I've been building a library at our school. Students were surveyed to get their input on the types of books they'd like to read. After having a couple of Donors Choose projects fully funded, I was able to add all the books they wanted and more! This project will help us add to our library and allow students to check out more books.

Reading is a fundamental life skill.

It's also a way to escape from the pressures and stresses of everyday life. By providing students with a variety of books, I can ensure that they will become lifelong readers.
