This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am thrilled to begin my first year of teaching first grade at a Title I school in South San Francisco, California. Most of our students come from hardworking Latino families, and many have limited access to books at home. For some of my students, the classroom may be the first place where they discover the magic of stories.
What I love most about my students is their enthusiasm, curiosity, and eagerness to learn.
I want to channel that energy into a love of reading that will last a lifetime. I’m requesting a selection of diverse, engaging books and primary composition journals to help build a nurturing classroom that celebrates literacy, imagination, and storytelling.
With your support, my students will:
Enjoy daily read-alouds and independent reading with books that reflect a variety of cultures, experiences, and voices.
Use journals to respond to literature, strengthen early writing skills, and express their ideas creatively.
Feel excited and empowered in a classroom that invites curiosity, empathy, and joy.
As a new teacher, I am deeply committed to making a positive impact in my students' lives through the power of books and storytelling. Your generosity will help me give them the strong literacy foundation they deserve.
