Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from a tough area and a majority of them are English Language Learners; however, they attend a school that provides them with amazing opportunities to help the succeed regardless of their home life and family's socio-economic status. From what I have seen, these students are eager to learn and do their best in and out of the classroom. They come to school each day ready to learn and grow both personally and academically. It's a wonderful thing to witness.

My Project

The materials I have chosen will help make a difference in my students' learning experience because it will help enhance my new classroom as a first year teacher. A majority of the things I have selected are books for my classroom library. Having a library filled with a variety of books will help spark my struggling readers' interest and the resources like the small chairs, will give them a place to want to sit down and read. While these materials I have added to my project are only a few of the things I need to start the upcoming school year, they will enhance the warm and safe environment I want to create for my students.
