This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember rock collecting or digging in the dirt as a kid? Our Kindergarten standards have a large segment on rocks and soils and I'd like to make it come alive for our little learners.
Our 50 Kindergarteners are excited to come to school each day!
Our school is a public school in an urban area, so we have a very diverse group of children. They all love learning though, especially hands-on experiences and experiments. It is our goal to instill in them a feeling of joy and success as they start their school experiences.
My Project
Within this request are a items that will help provide scientific experiences about rocks and soils. Students will tumble rocks that they find, crack open geodes, test rocks for hardness, learn about rocks and soil through exciting books and compare different rock samples. Instead of just hearing about rocks, students will touch, change, compare, contrast, analyze, test and investigate.
Kindergarten is a magical year in which a student can learn at school is exciting and engaging or boring and flat.
Providing experiences that are rich and real-world can start our students on a path of discovery that will last their whole lives.
