Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Next year, my Kindergarten students will be in a new Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program with the desire to embrace the Spanish language through an integrated thematic approach.
My students receive free or reduced lunch, come from low social economic status and attend school with beautiful hearts and the desire to learn.
Many attend a before-school program and an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8 to 10 hours per day. Our school is like a second home to my students.
My Project
Next Year, my school will be a Dual Language Immersion school and I am starting to build a Kindergarten Dual Language library. I am so excited for next year.
This project will help me build a collection of books for the Spanish Dual Language Program.
I'm trying to fill empty shelves for the Dual Program. My vision is to create a Spanish library where students see themselves represented, with topics that are meaningful to them, and that will support students critical thinking and social emotional learning. Learning a second language is invaluable! These books will greatly benefit my students in acquiring the Spanish language.
