Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Oftentimes, students fail to see themselves, their families, culture, and language represented in their classroom. My goal is to prevent this from happening and instead celebrate and recognize the uniqueness they bring into our classroom. By having a diverse classroom library, I will be able to further create the welcoming environment, I strive for. I also hope by bringing in diverse books in both Spanish and English, I will be able to plant a seed in my students where they find their joy for reading. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind considering their families' backgrounds and their personal interests.

Students will not only see themselves represented through these books, but they will also be able to learn about diversity and the diverse cultures that surround us in our classroom and communities.
