My Students
We are a title one school and have grateful, helpful students who love to learn but often become disengaged due to many physical, emotional and social disabilities . Many of my students receive free or reduced rate lunch, which means they come from low-income homes. Although my students face challenges day to day, they want to do their best and they continue to wear their badge of courage. I admire how my students still manage to try and do their best in everything they do no matter what their circumstance may be.
My students are dreamers, thinkers and they are often misunderstood, which makes them even more special in my eyes.
Even though my students are economically disadvantaged students that doesn't keep them from striving for excellence. I admire how my students become resourceful thinkers in which they figure out how to make do with the things that they do have in their possession. I also find that my students are very courageous but at times feel embarrassed because they aren't able to purchase the supplies needed for class which causes them to have to ask their peers for help.
My Project
Our school is filled with 755 students in which majority are students in poverty, which makes it challenging to accommodate every students' needs with limited supplies.
My goal is to accommodate all students when they do not have access to the proper supplies to help them be successful for the school year.
One group of students that tends to be at a disadvantage are my economically disadvantaged students. They tend to be at a disadvantage because they can not afford proper school supplies, let alone the extra necessities that help run an efficient classroom for the school year.
The idea of community supplies helps create a sense of community and teaches students about shared resources and it cuts the down the waste and cost for parents. It also cover the costs of students not able to purchase supplies in general due to personal factors.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
