My Project
Greetings from Green Bay, WI (Go, Pack, Go!)! Thank you for taking the time to review this request for my classroom; my students are a beautiful mix of genuine, altruistic, and inquisitive individuals. This year, I have the privilege of teaching a variety of courses including Speech, Literary Analysis, and Creative Writing. Within these classes, I have students who range from 9th to 12th grade.
I am consistently in awe of my students and their imaginative creations!
They truly go above and beyond with their projects, and they regularly search for innovative ways to put their own twists on the activities we work with in class. They are the reason I look forward to going to work every day!
To assist in the sharing of these fantastic creations, we are requesting a mobile podium to replace our older, bulky version which is difficult to move around the room. Students use this lectern for informal daily activities and formal unit assessments; our current model does move up or down, so this upgrade will allow us to create the best fit for each student and help them feel more comfortable in their presentations.
We are also requesting a set of word, visual, and trivia games to help build our classroom community and create an environment where goofiness and mistakes are encouraged as a means of learning and growing. Many students come to Speech class (a required Sophomore course) with a variety of fears that we try to help them navigate, and we've found that word games are an incredibly simple way to get students to use their voices and collaborate in a unifying manner.
