My Project
In the classes I teach - Literary Analysis and Journalism - my students are required to collaborate frequently, whether through reading, discussion, brainstorming story ideas, or editing one another's work. Unfortunately, they are too often stuck trying to move around the bulky desks that I have in my classroom or forced to sit on the hard floor to space out.
By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve the classroom environment - making it more homey, but you will ultimately help my students become better collaborators which is a necessary skill for the future outside of high school.
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. But these small collaborative spaces can ALSO serve as a place for students to independently work. When students are not being asked to collaborate, like during independent reading or individual work time, students will have the opportunity to get out of their rigid seats and find a place where they can settle in and do their work.
