My Project

Through my time student teaching I have seen firsthand the effect a good classroom library has on students. They have wonderful conversations about the characters, their actions, and the setting of the books they have both read. I have also seen students express their love for books they've read to their peers who have not read that same book.

As a first-year teacher, I won't be starting with as many materials as a veteran teacher.

With more materials, more specifically reading materials I feel I can put myself in the best position for success. If I am putting myself in the best position for success then I am by proxy putting my students in the best position possible.

While students are enjoying the books in the library during workshop time, I will be off working with small groups on comprehension and fluency. However you slice it, adding more books to the library of a first-year teacher is a positive thing. Me and my future students will be so incredibly grateful for your generosity!
