My Project

I am trying to build a classroom library. One of the biggest issues in our school is our students reading levels. Most of our high schoolers fall between a 3rd and 6th grade reading level. I'm dedicating time every week for students to engage in a "reader's workshop" where they can explore new books and spark an interest in reading.

My hope is that I can create a welcoming, comfortable, safe place for students to explore stories that matter to them.

I've spent hours scouring unused classrooms and the abandoned fourth floor looking for bookshelves and alternative seating options. It seems like such a simple thing, but we just don't have enough.
