Help me give my students colorful sticky notes, paper, pencils, highlighters and markers to participate in Getting to Know You, Your Classroom & Your Teacher Stations for the first week of school to create a classroom community.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Waring's classroom raised $267
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These specific items are necessary to divide the class into small groups where over the course of the week they will annotate the class syllabus and create class rules on sticky notes, highlight the commonalities and differences amongst the likes & interests of classmates, search the classroom library for an independent reading book, explore the various resources in the classroom, investigate the teacher website & annotate it for clues, and finally create their own 1 pager of what they learned about themselves, their teacher, their classmates & their classroom.
Each of the activities is designed to not only build classroom community, but also reinforces classroom routines, as well as familiarizes students with the most basic reading routine that we will utilize: reading & reflecting through annotation.
Ultimately, this project helps students engage in classroom routines, practice reading/annotating with a purpose, builds class community and sets expectations for following directions and working collaboratively.
