A typical day in my classroom involves an incredible amount of laughter and learning. My students come to school motivated everyday to put forth their best effort and be a member of our team.
Our school services approximately 900 students in grades five and six for our entire district.
Many of our students receive free or reduced lunch due to their socioeconomic status. They are a very culturally diverse group who work incredibly hard to grow, not only as students, but as human beings.
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from the materials I have requested. While we have just been funded for a classroom printer, having some backup ink would be very useful so we are not limited in our use. In addition, a wall map of the world would provided visual learners with a tool for success during our social studies lessons. Clipboards would give my students the ability to learn around the classroom in a more kinesthetic manner. Sine we use our whiteboard on a daily basis for shared learning, we tend to run through our supplies very quickly. Finally, a classroom label maker and binders would give my students more access to organizational tools.
As a first year teacher, I am entering this profession with a profound sense of duty to hone my craft.
I believe that having these educational tools in my classroom would help build an even more complete learning community than the one that we have already.
