Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are all recent immigrants to this country who are learning the language, the culture and trying their best to fit in and adjust to the life at a new place.
The donations to this project will help me build a calming corner for students to help them release their stress and find peace.
The donation will go to create a space in a part of the classroom where students can go to if they are feeling stressed, angry or sad, or if they just need some quiet time to collect their thoughts. I would like them to have the chance to have access to sensory and stress release toys that they can use, but they will also be able to relax by reading books or just doing some breathing.
Practicing mindfulness on daily bases is proven to decrease students' stress and help them focus and become more successful academically. It also helps children to learn how to act and stay calm in the stressful situation.
