it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come to school every day eager to learn and explore new ideas, and one of the most powerful tools I can give them is a love of reading.
Our classroom library is a place of imagination and discovery, but right now, it needs new life.
We need a wide variety of high-interest, age-appropriate books that reflect my students’ diverse interests, cultures, and reading levels.
The goal of this project is to build a rich, engaging classroom library that will provide students with access to high-quality literature they’re excited to read, foster independent reading habits and improve literacy skills, and encourage lifelong learning by connecting students with stories that reflect their own experiences and open windows into others.
My students are incredibly resilient and kind. They come from a variety of backgrounds and bring unique perspectives and stories to our classroom. Many of them do not have access to a wide selection of books at home, so our classroom library plays a vital role in helping them discover the joy of reading. They are thoughtful, empathetic, and capable of great things—and with the right books in their hands, they will go even further.
