My Students
Many students in my classroom will be walking into middle school without having been in a physical classroom for almost 2 years! I know they are eager to read, write, and grow an in-person classroom community once again and I cannot wait to meet them with open arms.
The students at my school are a diverse set of learners who are curious, engaged, empathetic, and creative!
They bring a joy for reading and writing that is contagious; all of the resources here will build upon their natural love for learning to support their growth and passion as they reenter the classroom!
My Project
Every student deserves to see themselves reflected in their classroom. Your donation will help me build my classroom library to include additional mentor texts that students will use across both reading and writing classes to study author's craft and practice higher-level reading skills. These texts will be an important component of our daily practice, as students will get to try the work we are focusing on together through these stories (and others), before applying their learning into their own work.
These texts were specifically chosen because of their affirming themes, diverse characters, and beautifully written stories.
Additionally, while I have developed a strong set of short story mentor texts, these pictures books will provide accessible examples for all my students, regardless of reading level.
