My Students
The students I have in my classroom and marching band are some of the hardest working people I have ever come across. These students live to be part of the band program. Many of the students come from a low socioeconomic house hold and often sacrifice much of their time and money to be part of this program.
There are several students that participate in both sports and marching band, their dedication amazes me.
They give up their own time to be a part of a group and fills my heart with joy.
Several years before I was hired there was an electrical fire that started in the band room and destroyed much of the equipment that was in the room. This had has a profound effect on the growth and stability of the program. I would like to see the program restored to its full potential.
My Project
We are trying to rebuild the band program. Due to the fact there was a fire, many of the items and equipment the band once owned was destroyed. The students understand this and are working hard to help rebuild this program. They are proud of what they do and what they are able to accomplish.
The drum set we are requesting will help in a magnitude of different ways.
The first thing it will do is allow us to explore different facets of music and the performing arts. We will use this to enhance our marching shows in the fall and a jazz band in the spring. The second thing this set will help us with is music during concert season. Many of the drums can be used in traditional band music as well as modern genres. The third thing it will can help us with is enhancing the individual students musical ability through solo performances or playing independently within a group. Please consider helping out our program in any way possible.
