Students within my school have been wanting the opportunity to become a part of a musical team. By putting a trombone into the hands of my students, you can provide them with their first opportunity to be a part of a band program. "Music can change the world because it can change people- Bono."
My junior high students are miniature treasures; they are precious, rare, and each hold a mysterious talent they are not even aware that they can possess.
My students range from fifth to eighth graders and have never had the experience of being in a band, jazz band, or even a modern band ensemble. Our school has turned a new leaf in the past year and has opened up to increasing as much of the arts as we can. However, nearly 100% of my students come from low-income households. This main factor is key to the understanding that my students and their families could not afford to purchase, nor rent, their own instruments. My students are very intelligent, creative, and eager to learn, and I would do anything in the world to provide them with the best music education possible.
My Project
By providing trombones for our school, you are creating a never-before-imagined journey for my students. The students within our school community have never had the chance to join a band program. Bands are great groups to build friendships, develop fine motor skills, travel to new places, and journey through new performance experiences that can build up their leadership skills and personalities. By having trombones in the school, I can also create instrument stations where students have the opportunity to try out the instrument and have a better physical representation of the instrument to learn about it's characteristics and history.
Donating to our "Build a Band: Brass" project will not only build a band, but it will build a student's life experiences.
They will achieve new skills, new friendships, and ultimately new educational experiences via performance and travel. Playing the trombone can also prepare a student to be a successful musician, teacher, and leader. By donating and providing trombones for my students, you are not only saying "Yes" to building a band, but you are saying "Yes to Success" for my students.
