Build, Test, Fly: Equip Our TSA Drone Challenge Team

Help me give my students the core UAV components—motors, propellers, radio control hardware, an ESC, and batteries—to engineer, assemble, and test their TSA Drone Challenge entry.

My Project

My TSA students are exactly the kind of learners every teacher hopes for: curious, determined, and unafraid to wrestle with difficult problems. What I love most about them is that they want to do real engineering, not just read about it. They want to build, test, fail, revise, and try again until something works.

With these materials, my students will create a competition-ready drone for the TSA Drone Challenge.

The motors and propellers will teach them how thrust, balance, and efficiency affect flight. The radio controller and receiver will show them how an aircraft receives commands and responds in real time. The electronic speed controller will help them understand how power is distributed and how precise control keeps a drone stable in the air. The batteries will give them the ability to run repeated tests, collect data, troubleshoot problems, and improve their design through iteration.

Through this project, students will learn engineering, electronics, teamwork, documentation, and perseverance in a way no worksheet ever could. Your donation will help them move from theory to hands-on innovation and give them the tools they need to compete with confidence.

I aligned this to the TSA Drone Challenge rules, which require students to design, build, assemble, document, and test-fly an open-source UAV, with four motors/four propeller blades and a pilot camera as part of the entry.
