My Students
The reality is facing all of us; Technology is indispensable in today’s education. My scholars rarely use the required graphing calculator during the lesson; and most of the topics that I teach in Algebra and Calculus, the concepts can be easily explained using graphing calculators.
Currently, I am responsible for teaching AP Calculus, Physics, and Algebra & Trigonometry to students who aspire to become engineers and scientists.
It is undeniable that technology is a tool of necessity in education. Integrating technology in my classroom would help my students not only better understand the concepts of the above mentioned disciplines, but also prepare them for their higher education in college. This Year, 80% of my AP Calculus students passed the test with level 3, 4, and 5; 100% of my Physics students passed the regent exam.
My Project
The TI84 is required not only for the AP exam but also for the Regent exam. My student may be at a disadvantage if they do not have this tool throughout the year during the lessons. This is in no way a substitute to learning the concepts; it is instead going to be use as a mean to consolidating the concepts they the students learn and to expedite the process of learning these concepts. There is a great deal of graphing and calculations in the subjects that I teach. Having the graphing calculator is simply a must giving the class period of 45 minutes.
As I mentioned earlier, I have very motivated students that only need some assistance to fulfill their dreams of succeeding in their education.
