Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 25 of the hardest working 5th graders in Bronx, New York.
My students are bright, curious and engaged.
They give their 100% each day. My students come a Title 1 school and many qualify for free or reduced lunch.
My Project
My students come to school every day with eagerness and enthusiasm to learn. As their teacher, I feel joy in the positive experiences that my students gain in my classroom. As we embark on this school year, please support my students with brand new club books to foster a love for reading!
Many of the non-fiction books on this list include award winning authors that are also perfectly leveled to support the needs of my 5th graders.
I am requesting books written by these authors so that I can meet with students in small groups. These books will also be used during research books clubs and help fill our growing library.
When students read more, they learn more, and are exposed to new knowledge and writing styles. They also fall in love with reading and reading becomes a lifelong endeavor. Having all of these extra reading options in my classroom will continue to foster a lifelong love of reading for my students!
