This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my first year of teaching as a kindergarten teacher. My classroom is some of my student's safe haven, their hot meal, daily hug, and their home. These students spend their time at school to explore and become life-long learners. Students spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they move forward in advanced studies.
I believe all students learn differently and I want to implement more hands-on activities for my students.
Through play, children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments.
My Project
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
