This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have 7 students that are diagnosed with Autism. My students age ranges from 5- 7 years old. These students reside in Southeast Washington, DC. Most of my students receive free and reduce lunch. I have some students that can read on their perspective grade level and some students that are non-verbal.
Despite all odds, all seven of them defy odds and work hard to meet their specific goals.
Next year, we will begin a new literacy program to add on to what the district has provided. With this added on literacy program comes, new books, such as the Lakeshore The Cow That Went Oink Big Book Activity Kit! Since this is a program to enhance what the district has provided. I need assistance with purchasing the books.
The books requested, like Mae Among the Stars and We're All Wonders, will be used for whole group and class reading daily. I will use the curriculum given to write lesson plans that will meet the needs of my students. These lessons will also be modified for students that may not be able to access the instruction. These items will drive my students to meet some of their individual goals and assist them with closing any learning gaps.
