My Project

To transform our Algebra classroom into a dynamic, "Thinking Classroom," my students need 8 rolling whiteboards to serve as Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces (VNPS). Research shows that when students stand and work on easily erasable surfaces, math anxiety plummets; the low stakes of a whiteboard encourage immediate risk-taking and exploration, which is crucial for mastering complex algebraic concepts. In a typical class of 24, having exactly 8 boards allows me to break students into the research-backed optimal size of visibly random groups of three. This ensures that every single student has an active, hands-on role in solving problems rather than passively watching from a desk.

Furthermore, these mobile boards solve a critical spatial challenge, as standard classrooms lack the wall space to accommodate eight separate working groups simultaneously.

Because these boards roll and flip, they offer a 360-degree view of student thinking, allowing me to conduct instant, room-wide formative assessments and catch misconceptions in real time. By funding this project, you will help replace a traditional, teacher-centered lecture model with an active, collaborative environment where students don't just mimic steps, but actually learn to think mathematically.
