My Project

I teach in a classroom with four- and five-year-olds with special needs. We need to have building materials available for students to play with in the classroom. Not only is having building materials available a requirement from the state for our day care license, but it is also a great way to help children learn.

Building with blocks helps children to attend to task, develop small muscles in their hands, and work cooperatively with peers.

We can use the blocks to help meet goals for Individual Education Plans, complete small group activities, and promote interaction with peers in self-chosen play.
