My Project

Trauma Psychoeducation is the 1st Building Block to understanding how emotions and the nervous system are connected. Education focused on the nervous system effects related to experienced traumas gives our students an understanding of how their thoughts are linked to emotion and behavior.

Psychoeducation involves informational facts and concepts that explain the relationships between thinking, emotion and behaviors.

Nervous System regulation and emotional awareness can be taught through play and non-verbal communication, using the LEGO "Build Me Emotions", as not all children have the vocabulary to express how they are feeling on the inside.

Traumas can cause a lot of feelings and emotions, including confusion, feeling terrified or overwhelmed, helplessness, anger, and even numbness. Emotional Intelligence can help kids identify when their survival mode kicks in and are feeling stuck in flight, fight or freeze. After being able to identify emotions, our students can use relaxation skills and mindfulness techniques to help manage emotional reactions better.
