Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some of the most outgoing, hardworking and loyal young adults I know. They come from various backgrounds and love showing off their culture. Regardless of the hardships they endure in their home lives, my students always come into the classroom with a positive outlook and an unmistakable desire to learn and better themselves. Many of my children are faced with responsibilities that no 10-13 year old should experience yet they still put a great amount of effort into their own education. 100 percent of the students within my school receive free or reduced lunch and many of my students struggle personally to come to class prepared with not only school materials, but clothing that follows our uniform policy. Creating a classroom environment that is inviting, safe and calm is crucial in ensuring their success and comfort within our classroom community.
My Project
I want my students to be problem solvers, think critically, be creative and innovative. I want them to gain these skills through hands on activities. My students love to build and have created amazing models with LEGOs and blocks. Being able to incorporate the use of LEGOs throughout my math and science lessons on a regular basis will increase student motivation, engagement and participation. With your donation I can set-up a LEGOyg station in my classroom that will encourage students to create and build models aligned with science and math topics. They will be able to learn kinesthetically and impress their peers with their creativity.
Collaboration, problem solving and persevering through challenging situations are crucial skills.
With the donation of puzzles and challenging board games, my students will be able to practice these skills while having fun. They will work with their peers to achieve a common goal and have fun at the same time!
