Build Crucial Reading Skills with Exciting, On-level Nonfiction
Help me give my students Scholastic News magazine. Nonfiction magazine for each student, digital lessons for me to expose students to more science and social studies content, and big issues for shared reading activities that are exciting!!
I am a teacher at an extremely low income/high poverty school in New Castle, DE. Our budget is very limited. The lack of funds eliminates the ability to purchase classroom supplies and resources that are needed every day. Our staff always pulls together to spend their personal funds to decorate our school, buy supplies, and provide the classroom with the necessities for success. We know many of our students live in very difficult conditions that are beyond their control.
Sky's the limit; there is nothing our students can't achieve!
Our goal is to make our students love and believe in themselves. We spend every minute of our day trying to find ways to make our students believe they can succeed by extending their knowledge and inspire them to conquer challenges along the way. They work hard every day to learn and obtain their goals. The staff works hard to build relationships with our students, parents, and their community. It is our job to make our school become their home away from home.
My project can engage my growing readers. It gives my students the opportunity to read high-interest articles, as they develop their reading skills. The subscription will be delivered each month and includes a copy for each student to have a magazine of their own to take home and continue to use for their reading pleasure.
Scholastic News will bring excitement to early elementary instruction with engaging nonfiction.
This will increase their knowledge of science and social studies and build on their reading/writing ability. The magazines also include videos and skill-building activity sheets we can use each month in the classroom.
