My Students

'Be Curious,' a phrase commonly used where I teach. My school's approach to learning is grounded in sparking curiosity. Students are empowered to lead their learning through Inquiry-based programs. Throughout our day at school, there are multiple opportunities for students to explore their interests and share their knowledge.

When students are given structured, and unstructured, time to build and create, magic happens!

In our classroom, we have a basket of Marble Run blocks. It has been awesome to watch the students work together to create intricate runs for the marble. Their eyes light up, and you can see the excitement and happiness as they watch the marble clink through the blocks! I am always impressed with their designs, creativity, and how they collaborate with their classmates.

My Project

Construction play materials like Legos, KEVA planks, PowerClix, and K'Nex function as powerful learning tools! They strengthen spatial reasoning and cognitive flexibility, enhance language development, promote creative problem solving, and encourage cooperative play which help students learn social skills! All the while, also creating engineers and mathematicians! The communication students engage in while working on these builds is something special.

The pride seen and felt when a student is showing off their creation is like nothing else.

Joy, laughter, and FUN will be brought into our classroom with these donations, and I think we can all benefit from that :)
