Build, Create, and Finance with Legos

My students need legos to participate in hands on learning activities, and to ignite their creative minds and learn about financial concepts.

My Students

Do you remember when you were young and used legos to create and build? With your help my students will be able to feel this wonderful experience to use their hands and mind to create. They will be able to disconnect from technology and use these timeless legos to strengthen their minds.

My students are teenagers who are wonderful students.

They have extreme potential, but like most young people in their generation are lacking creativity and the skills at times to think for themselves. They are surrounded by technology and have trouble disconnecting and being engaged when disconnected from technology.

My Project

With the legos my classes will be able to do many different hands on activities. One example of an activity is for them to create a toy prototype and determine the cost of goods sold through labor costs (time it takes to make one), the material costs (different prices per color of lego). Then they will set a price point for their toy and determine the contribution margin for one toy. This helps build their creativeness and learn financial concepts for a business. Another activity which would be an ice breaker would be for them to create anything they want to present to the class and then determine the cost of goods sold.

The students will be able to use their hands to create what their mind sees. With so much technology in our students' lives disconnecting and physically creating will help improve their creativity skills and build their esteem.
