My Project

I love my students for their curiosity, resilience, and the way they embrace kindness when given the right tools. Even at such a young age, they are capable of incredible emotional growth, and I see their potential every day. In our Title I school, many of them face challenges that no child should have to, but that makes our work in social-emotional learning (SEL) all the more important. SEL books help my students see emotions in action. Through stories, they learn that feelings are normal, problems can be solved, and mistakes are opportunities to grow. Books provide a safe space to explore big emotions and see characters modeling coping strategies they can use in their own lives.

Character trait lessons guide them in becoming the best versions of themselves.

By focusing on traits like kindness, perseverance, and empathy, we build a foundation that helps them navigate friendships, school expectations, and challenges with confidence. Diversity and self-confidence resources help my students see themselves in the materials we use. Representation matters. When they see characters who look like them or share similar experiences, they feel valued and empowered. Learning about others’ cultures and perspectives also fosters acceptance and inclusion in our school community.

For our little ones, these resources are not just lessons, they are life skills that can change their futures. By giving them the tools to express themselves, build relationships, and believe in their abilities, we are setting them up for success, both in school and beyond.
