This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of Southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.
My Project
During this time of Distance Learning, and really at all times, it is so important to build up a love of learning with interesting and timeless books that students can become invested in. My third graders are always so eager to grab hold of new books and I want them to feel the same way, even though we might not be in our actual classroom at this time.
Reading aloud from these amazingly engaging and highly sought after books is what will make all the difference for my students as we strive to become a reading centered classroom over the internet.
It will be a bigger challenge this year to keep books front and center in our room, but the titles requested in this project are going to help facilitate that. We will be able to read and enjoy quality literature together with your help.
Each of the books requested are tried and true tales that third graders will love. These are sure to build life long readers who can't wait for the next story. They are going to love every one of these amazing books!
