This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Building a strong band community begins with providing opportunities to build relationships. Students come into band feeling alone, but learn to be a part of a team during their time in band.

Band students need team building for trust and unity, collaboration for effective rehearsals and performances, and communication for conveying musical ideas effectively and respectfully.

With the materials in this project, team building activities can occur throughout the year to build relationships, trust, communication and collaborative skills in band. Structured games, such as Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza or Exploding Kittens are face paced, easy to learn, and build connections and bonding through laughter. Materials like balloons, balls and buzzers allow for more flexibility in playing team building games.

Through team building games, we learn to trust one another, how to mitigate conflict, encourage communication, and increase collaboration
