This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I-funded school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.

I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.

My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 19 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.

My Project

The requested power cubes and bed risers will be used for the library learning commons. We ordered tables that are too short and chairs that are too big. The bed risers will help us raise the tables wo the chairs can be used there. Power cubes will help the kids charge and mice powder is for art in the library. The school library is a collaborative hub where many students come that would not normally interact in the course of the day.

Making and discovering, kids can use their hands to create things rather than be on social media or video games.

In the library they can create digital things, paint or just charge their devices and just catch up. Let's inspire children to think outside the box. They will experience design thinking as they learn to problem solve and think analytically.

Through creating, regrouping when things do not work out, and trying again, children learn resilience through things they enjoy doing and that transfers over to academics. Thank you for your time, consideration and support of public school children. When you care about them, you care about our future.
