My Students

Exploring our environment will shape our future. Teach me how to care for the environment around me, and I will learn to care for and protect the world! Bugs and plants are our friends and I want to know all about them and how they affect and effect my life and those of my friends and family.

My students are 4 and 5 year old pre-k children from low income families.

My whole class of 18 is learning English for the first time, and they are excited about everything! We live in North Carolina and have wonderful opportunities to be outside, to explore the environment around us.

My Project

My students are excited about nature! We talk about all of the flowers, and trees which are currently blooming, and the insects we see when we talk walks around our school or spend time playing outside. They are fascinated by nature, and this is a great teaching opportunity. Using various books, which explain details about their environment, paired with beautiful illustrations, I am able to teach my children new English vocabulary words and get the excited about reading. Once they have been exposed to various pieces of literature, they will then use the materials you will help provide to explore their environment. They will catch and grow insects, and use appropriate language to describe what they observe and experience. They will become mini nature explores on a quest to see what is new in the world around them and take discoveries and share their thoughts through conversations, and drawing. Mostly they will have fun, and learn at the same time!

Your donation can and will change the lives of my students and others to come!

There is nothing more important than to teach the next generation to care for the world around them. There are serval movies they can see to help increase their knowledge, like Furry Vengeance, but nothing makes a life-long impact like hands on experiences! Through your donations, my project will increase language and vocabulary development while preparing my students to conserve and preserve the environment.
