This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a guidance counselor with a diverse population of students ranging from honors, special education, and English language learners who come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school which means that students come from many different social and economic circumstances. I work with students from grades six through eighth and meet with several weekly. My students are located mostly in the Elmhurst and Corona area of Queens which has been hit very hard by this pandemic.

I want to start a financial literacy club with my students after school.
Knowing how to budget is a big part of life and the budgeting expense tracker booklets will help my students learn to track and keep on a weekly and monthly budget. In the end, we will have the students use a "Shark Tank" model to pitch their budgeting idea to a panel using the PA mic system and clip boards to look and feel professional. The PA mic system will help the students amplify their voices and be able to talk and describe their budget plans to an audience of their peers. We can also use this PA mic system during different auditoriums we have throughout the school year to help students amplify their voices as they speak in the auditorium in front of their classmates. This will take the pressure off of them having to speak loudly or over others.
