Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are amazing and always so eager to learn and be kind people. The pandemic set many of them back socially and emotionally so now, we are trying to work together to teach them social skills and the skills to make new friends.
We utilize a buddy bench on our playground as a place for students to sit to let the other students know they need a friend or someone to play with.
Someone came onto our campus and vandalized the current one, so we would like to get a new bench to replace the damaged one. Our students are learning our school expectations, which include choosing kindness. The buddy bench is a perfect way for them to choose kindness and help other students that do not have someone to play with to feel included. The students have been asking if we are going to get the current bench fixed, and I would love for the answer to be yes.
