This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school everyday with an enthusiastic attitude about learning. I encourage my students to explore and ask questions about the world around them. The diverse personalities and cultures in my room adds to the learning of our community.
My class consists of five and six year old students, most of whom are language learners.
Our school is a Title 1 school, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although some of my students may face challenges at home they work together in our room to create a fun and collaborative learning environment. Working with my students is such a joy, which makes coming to school something I look forward to everyday.
My Project
These STEM kits will help my students explore our new physical science standards. My students like to experiment with magnets and gears. They have already noticed that the magnet ramps can be positioned to make the ball drop where they want.
My students get so excited when they get to build and create on their own.
With the materials in this project, they will now be able to learn even more about physical science. They will be able to use the balls and ramps kit to explore how the size of the balls affects the speed on the ramp. They will also be able to build models of houses and bridges to help them understand how developments can affect our environment. The Chain Reaction kit will increase their awareness of cause and effect as they build ramps to move a ball through a maze.
