Help me give my students easels and paint to create their masterpieces, because this is the ONLY way they are going to have the chance to be creative. There are no art classes offered.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are culturally diverse and they come to a Title I school early so they can receive a free breakfast to start their day off right and to feel safe. 100% of our students qualify for a free lunch, and many of them are experiencing homelessness. Our students are coming into a new classroom environment for sixth grade. They are independent and mature and they are responsible for getting themselves, and many times, younger siblings out the door and to school on time. Even though this area of San Diego is known by some for the gangs and crime, it is truly filled with hard-working families and smart students. Our school has no arts program or technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that would guarantee that all students have what they need to be creative, learn creatively, be innovative, and succeed.
My students are in desperate need of artistic supplies so that they can take what they are learning and create amazing projects.
My Project
Giving all students opportunities to be creative and produce artistic projects allows students to take a hands on approach to their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose to draw or uses the small amount of art supplies I currently have in my classroom. My students are choosing to work with a variety of mediums in our room such as: clay, paint, markers, colored pencils, etc. . Making sure students are able to have a creative outlet is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice of creative projects. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desks filling in worksheets with too much writing.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given an opportunity to produce a creative project.
The items that I have selected will help my students by giving them a multitude of artistic mediums to produce more unique projects. The easels are tabletop and will allow students to sit at their desks and paint or draw on canvases. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just want to paint standing up or sitting. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The paints, which are basic colors allow the students to use the basic color scheme to mix and make their own colors for their palettes. The pencils and markers allow those students who do not want to paint still be creative in other ways. Their projects will be unique to their personalities.
