Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a community school that services 600 students from different economic backgrounds in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Our school is also very diverse, including many who speak multiple languages. Our students come to school full of life, ready to learn, and excited to see what is in store for them each day. We have a variety of musical options for our students to participate in, and we would like to encourage more students to be involved.
We have a thriving and growing music department that prepares students to develop their musical skills so they can succeed at the next level.
My Project
Bucket drumming is an exciting and effective way to teach students how to read rhythms and use their creativity and expressive skills to create original musical pieces. We have many students in the percussion program, but do not have the resources to supply all students with the opportunity to play in the percussion ensemble.
"A drummer is usually like the backbone." With this donation, all students will experience the art of bucket drumming, and we hope to start a bucket drumming ensemble that will perform at concerts and different events throughout the school year.
Students will use the buckets and sticks to create wonderful music.
