Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have proven time and again this year that they are some of the most resilient young people I have ever met. They pour their heart into music, and love coming to class.
The one class many of my students look forward to is music.
The enthusiasm is contagious and I find myself reflecting their joy and passion.
My Project
Buckets for bucket drumming will help my students learn rhythm in a fun and interactive way. Students with no musical background will be able to feel and practice beats and complex rhythms by themselves and with their peers. Thirty buckets will provide 1 bucket per student, empowering each student to learn bucket drumming skills with their own pace and materials.
Middle school students respond best to kinesthetic learning opportunities.
Taking the concept of rhythm and teaching it through bucket drumming will reach my students in ways that reading and analyzing music never will.
